About Me

Who am I…

Hi! I am a human first, and therapist by choice and training. I understand the profound privilege I have in such a position, especially as a queer and gender non-conforming person in this world. I am consistently working on radical acceptance and making space for my ADHD and chronic illness, which can cause me significant challenges in my daily life and functioning.

I received a dual Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies from Ball State University, with a minor in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. I received my Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the Family Institute at Northwestern University. Prior to graduate school, I was a social servant through AmeriCorps and Peace Corps. In addition to my service and clinical training, I have worked in various inpatient and outpatient mental health settings with children, families, and adults since 2009. I have been working hard to enhance my therapist skills and knowledge base by being a Level Two Clinical Trauma Professional and EMDR-trained.

In my free time, when I am not working, I enjoy time outdoors, gardening, reading a good book, and cooking yummy food with my spouse. I also am a huge horror fan (scary and cheesy) through film and video games. If I am not doing any of those things, I am spending quality time with friends and family, or playing with our three fur babies (two cats and a dog).

If you are curious to know more about me, I am an ENFJ on the Myers-Briggs. My enneagram is a 1 w 2. I deeply and passionately belong to house Hufflepuff (yet I do not support nor agree with TERFs like JK). My zodiac is Taurus with a Taurus sun, a Pieces moon, and Capricorn rising.

My Approach…

I believe all clients are experts in their lives. As humans, we all have an innate ability to overcome challenges that come up daily. I work hard to foster a safe and collaborative space where you can develop an understanding to identify and discover your strengths, overcoming these barriers through a systemic and integrative approach that cultivates change. I believe we live in a multifaceted world, which can make it difficult for us to be our authentic selves. I want to help deepen your understanding of who you are through your thoughts, feelings, and daily actions, and allow you to share yourself authentically with the world.

My work is informed by queer-positive, mind-body connection, intersectional feminism, anti-racist, and liberation-focused perspectives. I want to help clients navigate through the past, present, and future to unlock and strengthen their authentic selves, given the messaging and experiences we have been impacted by since entering this world.

I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help, especially since we all come from diverse backgrounds and unique life experiences. I am infinitely humbled when clients allow me into their lives and their problems. The client-therapist relationship is a large part of the process, which means so much to me. I look forward to being allowed the opportunity to have a meaningful relationship with you!
